Remove paint, dirt, and corrosion from electri-
cal contact areas on hull grounds.
Check leads. Replace leads that are worn or
have cracked insulation.
Check lead connectors. Replace cracked or
damaged connectors (page- 14-3).

Place long ground lead (1) on hull mount.
Secure with screw (2), two washers (3), and
new locknut (4).
Place short ground lead (5) on engine block.
Secure with washer (6) and screw (7).
Place two leads (1 and 5) and washer (8) on
starter (9). Secure with nut (10).
FOLLOW-THROUGH STEPS
1. Close power plant front access door
3. Connect battery ground leads (page 13-2).
(see your -lo).
4. Start engine to check that starter ground
2. Raise trim vane (see your -10).
