REPLACE FRONT ARMOR (M113A3 ONLY) — Continued

WARNING
Power plant door contains a loaded torsional spring assembly. To avoid injury to personnel,
door must be raised to neutral position before removing two housing screws.
11. Raise power plant door (1) 120-130 degrees from closed position.
12. Attach lifting device to door lifting eye (2).
13. Remove two screws (3) and washers (4) from housing (5).
14. Rotate housing (5) toward top of carrier (counterclockwise), until second set of screw holes are aligned.
15. Reinstall two screws (3), washers (4), and new lockwashers (6) on housing (5). Detach lifting device and lower door (1).
16. Loosen detent screw (7) until access door handle (8) rubs screw head. Tighten jam nut (9).
17. Install armor plate (10) on power plant door (1) with four screws (11) and washers (12).
18. Install pivot bracket (13) on hull with two screws (14) and washers (15). Install clevis (16) on pivot bracket (13) with pin
(17) and new cotter pin (18).
