REPLACE PERSONNEL HEATER FUEL FILTER, HOSE, TUBE, AND FITTINGS (M577A3,
M901A3, AND M1068A3 ONLY) — Continued

INSTALLATION
1.
Apply light coat of sealing compound to all external tapered threads. Do not apply sealant beyond small end of tapered
threads.
2.
Install two plugs (1) and new packings (2) in ports 1 and 4 of fuel filter (3).
NOTE
Flareless (compression) fittings are used on the fuel lines. When these fittings are first installed,
a sleeve is crimped on the tube or hose end. Consequently, when tubes or hoses are replaced,
new fitting sleeves are also required.
3.
Install two elbows (4)(5) and new packings (6) in ports 2 and 3 of fuel filter (3).
4.
Install fuel filter (3) on sponson and secure with two screws (7), new lockwashers (8), and washers (9).
5.
Connect tube (hose on M901A3) (10) to elbow (4) and bulkhead fitting (11).
6.
Connect hose (12) to elbow (5) and bulkhead fitting (13).
7.
Install shield (14) on sponson and secure with four screws (15), new lockwashers (16), and washers (17).
FOLLOW-THROUGH STEPS
1.
Open heater fuel shutoff valve (see your -10).
2.
Connect battery ground strap (WP 0337 00) or (WP 0338 00).
3.
Bleed fuel line (WP 0679 00).
4.
Start heater (see your -10). Check all fittings for leaks. Turn heater off.
5.
Start engine (see your -10).
6.
Raise and lock ramp (see your -10).
7.
Stop engine (see your -10).
