Damage to rod or piston couldresult. Always use shop cloths to protectclamped parts.NOTEAn assistant is required to restrain rod duringnut removal.Position rod horizontally and clamp flatted end (16) ofpiston rod (13) in soft-jawed vise. Ensure threaded portionof rod is protected from damage.Remove nut (17), washer (18), piston head (19) and washer(20) from piston rod (13).Remove and discard two retainers (21) and packing (22).CAUTIONWhen clamping tie rods in vise, do not clampthreaded portions of rods.M Place each tie rod in vise.
