If nameplate is loose, remove andexamine mounting area on shell (2) forcorrosion.Pull cartridge guard (3) from extinguisher (4).Inspect the inside components for working or-der and cleanliness.Unscrew cartridge (5) left hand thread (coun-terclockwise). Check seal (6) for punctures.WARNINGA cartridge can be punc-tured if the lever does notwork freely. Do not installthe cartridge before youmake sure the puncturelever works freely.9. Weigh cartridge (5). If weight is less than1/2 oz. of weight stamped on cartridge, thecartridge must be replaced. Use 5-pound mailand parcel post scale.10.11.12.13.Removehose (9)Operatenozzle (7) from holderfrom behind puncture(8) and liftlever (10).puncture lever (10) to check forproper working order.Check the pressure relief vent (11) for ob-structions.Remove cartridge receiver gasket (12) andcheck for cuts or wear.
