Direct carbon dioxide or argon gas into fuelcompartment at 30-60 cubic feet(0.84–1 .68 cubic meters) per hour until gasescapes from fuel filler opening.R E P A I R6.7.8.9.10.11.12.13.14.Weld on outside of fuel compartment, ifpossible.Choose type of repair, overlapping or fittedpatch.Resize hole in fuel compartment, to removesharp edges or cracks, for type of patchSelected.Prepare a piece of aluminum of the samealloy and thickness as the side of the fuelcompartment.Size patch to cover hole in fuelcompartment.Tack weld a small piece of aluminumupright to center of patch to hold patch forwelding.Weld patch to fuel compartment(see TM 9-237 and your –20).Break support away from patch. Discardsupport.Seal weld patch with sealing compound.4-10
