8. Clean hose and fitting with dry cleaning
solvent.
9. Check hose. Replace broken, twisted, or
worn hose.
10. Check fitting. Replace fitting that is cracked
or has stripped threads.

Apply a thin, even
to cleaned external
installation.
Install valve (1) in
coat of sealing compound
threads of fittings before
elbow (2).
Install new preformed packing (3) on
elbow (2).
Install elbow (2) in transmission (4).
Tighten jamnut (5) on elbow (2). Use
adjustable wrench.
Connect hose (6) to two elbows (2 and 7).
Install two hoses (6 and 8) on bracket (9).
Secure with clamp (10), screw (11), and
new locknut (12).

Install two hoses (6 and 8) on transmission
(4). Secure with two clamps (13), screw
(14), and new key washer (15).
Check transmission oil level (see your -LO).
Install air cleaner element and container
(page 7-7).

Carbon monoxide is poison-
ous and can kill you. Do not
idle engine with bottom
access cover and power
plant access panels off
unless there is ADEQUATE
VENTILATION.
20. Start engine (see your -10). Check for leaks.
