TRANSMISSION TRUNNION CAPS REPLACEMENT (continued).3.b.1.2.3.4.5.6.7.8.Remove lower trunnion insert (6) from eachof two mounts (7).INSTALLATIONNOTEPerformstep 1 if Iower trunnion insertswere removed.Install lower trunnion insert (6) on each oftwo mounts (7).Install trunnion cap (3) on each of two mounts(7) with two screws (1) and washers (2).Using socket wrench socket adapter, torquetwo screws (1) on each of two trunnion caps(3) between 80 and 90 ft-lb (108 and 122N•m).NOTEIf installing one or more new trunnioncaps, perform steps 4 through 8 oneach new trunnion cap. If reusingtrunnion caps, proceed to step 9.Using thickness gage, measure clearancebetween trunnion cap (3) and mount (7).Compute number of shims required bysubtracting 0.006 inch from clearancemeasurement recorded in step 4.Remove two screws (1) and washers (2)and trunnion cap (3) from mount (7).Install required number of shims (8) andtrunnion cap (3) on mount (7) with twoscrews (1) and washers (2).Using socket wrench socket adapter, torquetwo screws (1) between 80 and 90ft-lb (108and 122 N•m).8-21
