REPLACE COMMANDER’S HATCH INTERIOR LATCH (M577A3 AND M1068A3 ONLY) —

INSTALLATION
1.
Align strike (11) with holes in hatch cover. Secure with two new lockwashers (10) and screws (9).
2.
Place spacers (8) and eye bracket (5) on hull. Secure with two washers (7) and screws (6). Do not tighten screws.
3.
Align latch plate (4) and spring (3) with eye bracket (5). Secure with headed pin (2) and new cotter pin (1).
ADJUSTMENT
1.
Check that commander’s hatch cover latches tightly with a firm latching action.
2.
To increase pressure of latch plate (4) on strike (11), add spacers (8) between eye bracket (5) and hull. To decrease
pressure, use fewer spacers.
3.
Tighten screws (6) to 300-360 lb-in (34-41 N.m) torque.
