REPLACE PRIMARY AND SECONDARY FUEL FILTERS/ELEMENTS

Disconnect separator tank-to-primary filter hose (1) from elbow (2) on top of filter.

Disconnect secondary filter-to-engine fuel pump hose (3) from elbow (4) on top of filter.
6.
Disconnect secondary filter-to-fuel injector line hose (5) from elbow (6) on top of filter.
7.
Disconnect engine fuel pump-to-secondary filter hose (7) from tee (8) on top of filter.

Remove two lock nuts (9), washers (10), lock washers (11), and screws (12) and guard (16) (if damaged) securing

primary filter cover (13) and secondary filter cover (14) to bracket (15) and remove filter covers. Discard lock washers
and lock nuts.
10. If primary filter replacement is to be installed, remove elbow (2), elbow (4), pipe plug (17), and pipe plug (18) from
defective filter.
11. If secondary filter replacement is to be installed, remove electrical connector (19) from fuel pressure switch (20), tee (8),
elbow (21), fuel pressure switch, pipe plug (22), and pipe plug (23), and elbow and hose assembly from defective filter.
CLEANING
1.
Clean all parts with clean fuel and blow dry.
2.
Inspect primary and secondary filters for dents, nicks, and cracks that may cause fuel leaks. Replace filters that show
any of these defects.
3.
Inspect springs for distortion or loss of tension. Replace springs that show either of these defects.
4.
Inspect drain valve for damaged threads and improper operation. Replace valves that show either of these defects.
5.
Inspect fittings and connections for worn areas or damaged threads. Replace fittings that show either of these defects.
