l Adjustable wrench (Item 2, Appendix 1)
l General mechanic’s tool kit
(Item 24, Appendix 1)
Materials/Parts:
Adhesive (Item 1, Appendix D)
Drycleaning solvent (Item 27, Appendix D)
l Rag (Item 56, Appendix D)
l Rubber adhesive (Item 5, Appendix D)
l Sealing compound (Item 61, Appendix D)
Equipment Conditions:
l Vehicle parked on level ground (refer to
TM 9-2350-287-10).
l Left and right transmission access doors opened
(refer to TM 9-2350-287-10).
l Primary fuel filter assembly lifting bracket removed
(para 4-18).
Primary fuel filter assembly removed (para 4-25).
l Cooling system drained (refer to TM 9-2350-287-10).
Oil filters and filter adapter moved out of the way
(para 3-8).

REMOVAL
Remove two screws (3) and
washers (2) and retainer (1) from
bulkhead.
Loosen clamp (16) and remove
hose (17) from elbow (15).
Loosen two clamps (5 and 19) and
remove two hoses (6 and 20) from
two elbows (4 and 18).
Loosen two nuts (9 and 12) and
disconnect two hoses (8 and 11)
from two elbows (7 and 13).
Remove four elbows (4,7, 13, and
18) from surge tank (21).
Remove elbow (15) and adapter
(14) from surge tank (21).
Remove plug (10) from surge tank
(21).
Remove surge tank (21) from
vehicle.
