REPLACE SMOKE GENERATOR ARMOR (M1059A3 ONLY) — Continued

WARNING
Hanging loads can kill or injure you. Keep away from hanging loads and overhead equipment.
Keep hands clear while armor is being lifted for removal or lowered for installation.
2.
Remove outboard armor shield.
a.
Remove ten screws (16), washers (17), and outboard shield (18) from hull.
b.
Remove nut (19), lockwasher (20), washer (21), and eyebolt (22) from outboard shield (18). Discard lockwasher.
INSTALLATION
1.
Install outboard armor shield.
a.
Install eyebolt (1), washer (2), new lockwasher (3), and nut (4).
b.
Install outboard shield (5) on hull. Secure with ten screws (6) and washers (7).
2.
Install inboard armor shield.
a.
Position three hinges (8) and shims (9) on hull and secure with six screws (10) and washers (11). TIGHTEN
SCREWS TO 51-54 LB-FT (68-73 N m TORQUE.
b.
Position two angle brackets (12) on shield (13). Secure with four screws (14) and washers (15). If necessary, add
shims (16). TIGHTEN SCREWS TO 22-24 LB-FT (28-33 N m) TORQUE.
c.
Install armor shield (13) in three hinge assemblies (8). Secure with three screws (17), new locknuts (18), and six
washers (19).
