REPLACE ROAD WHEEL HUB — Continued

INSTALLATION
CAUTION
Bearings must be replaced as assemblies. Do not mix cups and bearings.
1.
If removed, install new bearing cups (1) and (2) in hub (3). Use replacer.
2.
If removed, install new bolts (4) in road wheel hub (3).
3.
Apply a light coat of sealing compound to threads of relief valve (5) and lubrication fitting (6). Install valve and fitting in
hub (3).
4.
Pack inner bearing (7) with grease. Install bearing in rear of hub (3).
5.
Apply a light coat of sealing compound to external surface of new seal (8).
6.
Install new seal (8) in hub (3) using replacer.
7.
Place hub (3) on road wheel support arm (9). Completely pack cavity in hub with grease.
8.
Pack outer bearing (10) with grease. Install in hub (3).
9.
Install washer (11) and nut (12) on support arm (9). Tighten nut to adjust bearing as follows:
a.
TIGHTEN NUT (12) TO 140-150 LB-FT (190-203 N m) TORQUE.
b.
Back off nut (12) until there is no torque.
c.
TIGHTEN NUT (12) TO 70-75 LB-FT (95-102 N m) TORQUE.
d.
Back off nut to align nearest cotter pin hole in nut with cotter pin in support arm (9).
10. Install new cotter pin (13) in support arm (9).
11. Install new gasket (14), hub cap (15), and four screws (16) in hub (3).
12. Fill hub (3) with grease (WP 0155 00).
