A p l y w o o d t r i m v a n e w i th
bolt-on buoyancy pods is re-
quired on M113A2 and M1059
carriers before attempting wa-
ter operations. A plywood trim
vane is required on the M577A2
and M1068 before attempting
water operations. If not in-
stalled, notify unit maintenance.
Conduct dip exercise in calm
waters with the actual water
operation payload.

Practice emergency exit
procedures with personnel riding
in carrier before entering the
water.
Attach one or more marker buoys
to earner.
Attach a recovery carrier winch
cable to carrier towing eyes. Play
out winch as carrier enters the
water.
Turn both BILGE PUMPS ON.
