Check specific gravity of each battery cell. See TM 9-6140-200-14. Replace batteries having bad cells.

If battery compartment seal (1) was removed, clean mating surfaces with cleaning compound. Apply light coat of
adhesive to all surfaces. Let adhesive dry until tacky.
4.
Press new seal (1) firmly in place in battery compartment.
INSTALLATION
WARNING
Ventilate battery compartments before connecting or disconnecting battery terminal leads.
When disconnecting or connecting terminal leads, always disconnect or connect negative lead
first. Do not cause sparks. Hydrogen explosions can cause serious injury.
Battery is heavy and can cause back injury if handled improperly. Be sure to have helper assist
you to remove and replace battery. Battery weighs about 75 lb (34 kg).
NOTE
Position battery so the negative and positive posts are as disconnected.

Install batteries in carrier. Have helper assist.
