Inspect all parts for damage or excessive wear. Replace any damaged or worn parts. ASSEMBLY Slide dust boot (27) and clamp (28) onto rod (16). Do not tighten clamp until final adjustment of steering controls. Slide quick-release pin (20), chain (50), and new safety wire (49) onto rod end (56) of rod (16). Install two nuts (57) and rod ends (56) on rod (16). Do not tighten nuts (57) until final adjustment. Adjust rod (16) and rod ends (56) so that center-to-center distance between rod ends (56) is 163/4 inches. Install two nuts (57) and rod ends (56) on rod (3). Do not tighten nuts (57) until final adjustment. Adjust rod (3) so that center-to-center distance between rod ends (56) is 8 11/1 6 inches. Apply lubricant to friction surfaces of housing bracket (24). Install shaft (53), spacer (55), and two Woodruff keys (52) in housing bracket (24). Install two levers (1 and 21), washers (51), and new Iockpins (54) on shaft (53). 12-7
