7-36. ENGINE COOLANT TEMPERATURE TRANSMlTTER REPLACEMENT.

l Air intake grille opened and locked in position

l Teflon pipe sealant (Item 63, Appendix D)

REMOVAL
WARNING
Engine must be cool before removing transmitter. Removal of transmitter from hot
engine will allow hot coolant to spurt from transmitter receptacle, possibly causing
severe burns.
Disconnect lead 33A from electrical connector (1) of temperature transmitter (2).
NOTE
Cooling system coolant will drain from opening when transmitter is removed. Install
replacement transmitter immediately.
Unscrew and remove temperature transmitter (2) from vehicle.
INSTALLATION
Apply Teflon pipe sealant to threads of temperature transmitter (2), and install temperature transmitter (2) in
vehicle.
Connect lead 33A to electrical connector (1) of temperature transmitter (2).
