Vehicle may movesuddenly, causing severe injury ordeath to personnel.CAUTIONDo not check oil with engine running.Do not overfill.NOTETransmission and engine contain preservative oilupon receipt. Preservative engine oils PE1 andPE2 are identical to engine oil OE-40, exceptthey contain a preservative additive. PE1 andPE2 will be used in the same manner as theregularly used engine oil OE-40. PE1 or PE2 willalso be used in the transmission until the firstscheduled 2000-mile or semiannual oil change.Check oil level before starting engine. Oil levelindicator must be within 'OPERATING RANG E"stamped on dipstick and filler cap (1). Add ordrain oil (see key for required type) as required.Block vehicle tracks. With brakes applied andtransmission in fourth gear, run engine at 1600-1900 rpm to warm the transmission oil. Whentransmission oil temperature gage reads over180°F, run engine at 1200-1600 rpm for 1-3minutes with transmission in neutral (N). Afterthis period of time, oil temperature shouldstabilize between 180"F and 220°F. Stopengine, wait 3-5 minutes, then check oil level.E-3
