Draining Coolant

Monitorengine temperature on ENGINE WATER TEMPerature gage (p. 2-89), and allow
engine to cool to below 185°F.
Place vehicle on an incline, nose down, to facilitate coolant draining.
Remove access cover (1) from bottom of vehicle.
Using a 9/16-inch socket head screw key, remove coolant drain plug (2) from radiator.
Drain coolant into suitable container.
Slowly remove radiator cap from radiator.
Replace plug (2) in radiator and refill with coolant (p. 3-19).
Place vehicle on level ground and recheck coolant level.
Install access cover (1).

-65°F to -40°F
-40°F to +8O°F
