INSTALL/REMOVE MINE ARMOR KIT (M113A3 ONLY) — Continued

REMOVAL
WARNING
Armor plate weighs approximately 250 lbs (114 kg). Be sure to support
armor plate properly to avoid injury to personnel.
1.
Remove three screws (1), washers (2), cover (3), and three spacers (12) from bottom of carrier.
2.
Support armor plate (4) with hydraulic jacks and loosen eight screws (5).
3.
Remove three screws (6), washers (7), and spacer (8) from between armor plate (4) and bottom slope of carrier.
4.
Carefully remove eight screws (5), washers (9), and spacers (13) from between armor plate (4) and carrier.
5.
Lower armor plate (4) with hydraulic jacks. Remove blocks. Start engine (see your -10) and move carrier away from
armor plate. Stop engine and block carrier.
6.
Install 14 protective plugs (10) in threaded inserts (11) under carrier.
