INSTALL/REMOVE MINE ARMOR KIT (M113A3 ONLY) — Continued

Position armor plate (3) on four hydraulic jacks and raise to a height just below bottom of carrier. Have helper assist.

Remove blocks. Start engine (see your -10) and drive carrier over armor plate (3). Stop engine and block carrier. Have
helper assist.
4.
Align and position armor plate against bottom of carrier. Use jacks and pry bars. Have helper assist.
5.
Install eight spacers (12) between armor plate (3) and bottom of carrier. Secure armor plate (3) with eight washers (4)
and screws (5). Do not tighten.
6.
Install spacer (6) between armor plate (3) and bottom slope of carrier. Secure with three washers (7) and screws (8).
Have helper assist.
7.
TIGHTEN THREE SCREWS (8) TO 54-59 LB-FT (73-80 N m) TORQUE.
8.
TIGHTEN EIGHT SCREWS (5) TO 107-118 LB-FT (145-160 N m) TORQUE.
9.
Install three spacers (13) and cover (9) on armor plate (3) under carrier. Secure with three screws (10) and washers (11).
TIGHTEN SCREWS TO 54-59 LB-FT (73-80 N m) TORQUE.
