Failure to do so may result in personnelinjury or death.WARNINGBatteries can emit gases that explode. Do not smoke,have open flame, or make sparks around batteries. If thebattery is emitting gases, it can explode, causing death orpersonal injury.WARNINGBatteries contain sulfuric acid which can cause severeburns. Avoid contact with skin, eyes, or clothing, andremove all metal or jewelry. If battery electrolyte isspilled, stop its burning effects immediately (ref. FM21-11).NOTERemove cables with terminal lugs attachedLoosen two nuts (1) and remove two ground cables (2) from batteryterminals.Remove two screws (3), two lockwashers (4) and two ground cables (2) fromshunt (5). Discard lockwashers.CDEFGDisconnect STE/ICE wire (6).Loosen six nuts (7) and remove four cables (8) from battery terminals.Remove two nuts (9) and two washers (10), and remove two hold-downbrackets (11).Lift out batteries (12).Remove eight screws (13), eight lockwashers (14) and two battery trays(15).
