CHAPTER 18PREPARATION FOR SHIPMENT, STORAGE ANDDESTRUCTION TO PREVENT ENEMY USESection I SHIPMENT AND STORAGESHIPPING INSTRUCTIONSWhen shipping M992 Carrier, Ammunition, Tracked, the officer in charge ofpreparing the shipment will be responsible for furnishing the material in serviceablecondition, properly cleaned, processed, packaged, and packed. Transport M992FAASV in accordance with TM 55-2350-267-14.REMOVAL OF PRESERVATIVES PRIOR TO SHIPMENTPersonnel removing vehicle from storage for shipment must not removepreservatives other than to make sure material is complete and serviceable. Ifpreservatives have been removed they must be restored to a prescribed level ofpreservation prior to shipment.ARMY SHIPPING DOCUMENTSPrepare all Army shipping documents in accordance with AR 55-355.LIMIITED STORAGE INSTRUCTIONSWhen received for storage and already processed for domestic shipment bymanufactured, as indicated on DD Form 1397, vehicle will not be reprocessedunless inspection performed on receipt of material reveals corrosion, deterioration,etc.18-1Change 4Upon receipt from manufacturing facilities, if processing data on tag indicates thatpreservation has been rendered ineffective by operation or by freight shippingdamage, completely process vehicle in accordance with MIL-H-46709.Vehicle to be prepared for administrative storage must be given limited technic-atinspection and processed as prescribed on DD Form 1397. The results of theinspection and classification will be entered on DA Form 2404.RECEIVING INSPECTIONImmediately upon receipt of vehicle for storage, in must be inspected and servicedas prescribed. Perform systematic inspection. Replace or repair all missing orbroken parts. If repairs are beyond scope of unit, and material will be inactive forand appreciable length of time, place material in limited storage and attach tagsspecifying repairs needed. The report of these conditions will be submitted by theunit commander for action by an ordnance maintenance unit.TM 9-2350-267-20
