Unit Level Preventive Maintenance Checks and Services for M113A2 FOVItem IntervalItem ToProcedureNot MissionNo.BeCapable If:Inspected3Semi-Idle TestCAUTIONAnnualAvoid lengthy engine idling .This causes coolant temperatureto drop below operating tem-peratures and can shorten en-gine life.Run engine at 800 rpm for 3-5 minuteswith range selector in 2-3 range andbrakes locked until normal operatingtemperature is reached.Engine runs hot orrough. If outside air temperature is less than85°F (29°C), normal operating tem-perature should be 160° to 200° F (71°to 93°C). If outside air temperature isgreater than 85° (29°C, normal oper-ating temperature should be 160° to23O°F (71” to 110°C).With range selector in N, engineshould idle smoothly at 650 to 700rpm.High or low engine idle speed is usu-ally caused by accelerator linkage be-ing out of adjustment. Adjust linkageif necessary (page 23-34).Rough idling is usually caused byfaulty injector timing and rack setting, faulty injectors, or air in the injectionsystem.Contact next higher levelmaintenance.Change 3 2-43
