If any link (4) has a sharp transverse nick or gouge, remove sling from service.c. If any link (4) is modified, homemade, or length of chain is altered, remove sling from service.NOTEHooks should be free of paint. Paint covers up cracks. Remove all paint from hooks.4. Inspect hooks (5) for following:a. If any cracks are found on hooks (5), remove sling from service.b. If throat opening (6) exceeds 1 7/64 inch (28 mm), remove sling from service.c.
