Remove battery frame from carrier:
a.
Remove four cap screws (11), flat washers (12), battery frame mounts (13), and flat washers (14) from battery
frame (15).
b.
Remove battery frame (15) from carrier.
c.
Remove two cap screws (16) and washers (17) from channel (18).
d.
Remove channel (18) from battery frame (15).
CLEANING
1.
Tighten vent plugs. Clean batteries and terminals. See TM 9-6140-200-14.
2.
Clean all parts removed from well and battery well with a solution of baking soda and water. Flush with clean water.
Wipe dry with a clean cloth.
INSPECTION-ACCEPTANCE AND REJECTION CRITERIA
1.
Check leads, clamps, and mountings. Replace parts that are corroded.
2.
Check batteries. Replace batteries that have damaged terminals, cracked cases, or are corroded.
3.
Check specific gravity of each battery cell. See TM 9-6140-200-14. Use antifreeze/battery tester or antifreeze test kit.
4.
Check battery frame and battery frame channel. Replace parts that are corroded or distorted.
5.
Check battery retainers. Replace retainers that are corroded or distorted.
6.
Check threaded parts. Replace parts that are corroded or have damaged threads.
7.
Check battery compartment seal. Replace seal that is cracked, worn, or hardened.
8.
If battery compartment seal was removed, clean mating surfaces with cleaning compound.
