ADJUST STEERING CONTROLS (M548A1) -- Continued

ADJUSTMENT
NOTE
Adjustment of the differential brake linkage is needed only when the differential or a part of the
control linkage has been repaired or replaced.
1.
Adjust steering controls as follows:
a.
Disconnect two return springs (1) from hull brackets.
b.
Remove cotter pin (2) and clevis pin (3). Disconnect lower clevis (4) from each brake at differential brake arm (5).
Discard cotter pin.
c.
Lock left steering lever (6) and right steering lever (7) in first notch of steering lever quadrant (8).
NOTE
If indexing holes cannot be aligned, loosen pivot steering brake adjustment (WP 0370 00).
d.
Align indexing holes in differential brake arms (5) with tapped indexing holes in differential housing. Secure with
index screws (9).
e.
Loosen jam nut (10). Turn lower clevis (4) until hole in differential brake arm (5) aligns with holes in clevis (4).
f.
Install clevis pin (3) in lower clevis (4) and differential brake arm (5). Secure with new cotter pin (2). Tighten jam
nut (10).
g.
Remove index screw (9) from differential brake arm (5).
