Noise from carrier or weapons can damage hearing of personnel in carrier.All personnel in carrier MUST WEAR DOUBLE HEARING PROTECTION when gun orcarrier is operated. Hearing protection devices must be properly worn to provide effectiveprotection.If DOUBLE HEARING PROTECTION is not worn, the safe level of noise exposure will beexceeded in a short time. Hearing loss occurs gradually. Each noise exposure that exceeds theear protection guidelines will cause a temporary hearing loss. Over time, loss of hearing willbecome permanent. Plan each day’s operation, and be sure all crew and riders have therequired ear protectors. Spare foam earplugs must be available.NOTEIf the temperature is below -25F (-32C), see WP 0039 00 for starting engine.If the temperature is below -25F (-32C) and engine coolant heater was used to warm coolant,prior to engine start procedure, shut down engine coolant heater.1. Do Before (B) Preventive Maintenance Checks and Services (WP 0057 00).2. Turn MASTER SWITCH ON. Check that MASTER SWITCH indicator light comes ON.3. Set parking brake by pushing on brake pedal and then pull up on parking brake handle. Check that parking brakeindicator light comes ON.4. Place transmission shift controller in SL (steering wheel lock).5. Lock steering wheel in center position using steering wheel lock pin.0014 00-9
