Remove door (20) and two packings (21) from shield (8). Discard packings.
CLEANING
1.
Apply cleaning compound or water to vision block (13). Use a clean wiping rag. Dry vision block with cheesecloth.
INSTALLATION
1.
Install two new packings (1) on shield (2) with adhesive.
2.
Lubricate shaft (3) lightly with grease (WP 0155 00).
3.
Install door (4), two spacers (5), two springs (6), and shaft (3) on shield (2).
4.
Apply corrosion preventive compound to two screws (7).
5.
Install two shims (8), clamps (9), and screws (7) on ramp hatch (10).
6.
Apply RTV adhesive to inside of housing (12) as follows:
a.
Apply three beads of RTV adhesive around inside walls of housing (12). Locate one bead in the center within ± 1.0
inch (2.54 cm) and one bead at each end of housing 1.0 ± 0.5 inch (2.54 ± 1.27 cm) from edge.
b.
Apply RTV adhesive on outside edge between vision block and housing.
7.
Install vision block (11) in housing (12).
8.
Apply corrosion preventive compound to four screws (13).
9.
Install new gasket (14) and housing (12) on ramp hatch (10). Secure with four washers (15) and screws (13).
10. Apply corrosion preventive compound to four screws (16).
11. Install shield (2) on ramp hatch (10). Secure with four washers (17) and screws (16).
12. Apply corrosion preventive compound to four screws (18).
