ALWAYS do a road test onthe carrier. Do NOT do a stall check onthe carrier unless conditions absolutelyprevent a road test.NOTEThe stall check will tell you if the powerplant is producing maximum power. If it isnot, the check will tell you whether theengine or transmission is at fault. Thischeck is to be used only if no other check isavailable.a. Run engine at 800 rpm for 3-5 minutes withrange selector in 1 range and brakes locked untilnormal engine operating temperature is reached.b. If outside temperature is less than 85F (29C),normal operating temperature should be 160Fto 200F (71to 93C). If outside airtemperature is greater than 85F (29C), normaloperating temperature should be 160to 225F(71to 107C).CAUTIONLimit stall test to 30 seconds. Full throttleuse with brakes locked overheats oil andwill damage power plant. If you suspect abad governor, do not perform stall check.Unless absolutely necessary do NOT usestall check, use alternate test.c.
