Alwaysengage the parking brake and block theroad wheels before working on the carrier.CAUTIONStall check damages the carrier’stransmission. Always check the carrierwith a road test unless conditionsabsolutely prevent it.a. Immediately after road test cautiously feel allwheel and idler hub for noticeable difference intemperature between hubs. An overheated hubindicates that bearing is out of adjustment,poorly lubricated, or unserviceable.A hub that isout ofadjustment,poorlylubricated orunserviceable.b. Check temperature of shock absorbers. Theyshould feel warm. A cold shock has failed.Any Class IIIleaks or coldshocks.c. Visually check inside, outside, and underneathcarrier for fuel, oil, or hydraulic leaks.3Semi-AnnualIdle TestCAUTIONAvoid lengthy engine idling. This causescoolant temperature to drop belowoperating temperature and can shortenengine life.a.
