M2A2 AIR PURIFIER UNIT - removes all known chemical agents from the air. The air
purifier can produce a flow of 12 cubic feet of breathable air per minute. The pure air is then
supplied to up to four crew members through hosing and individual M25A1 face pieces.
The air purifier unit consists of an Ml 3 particulate filter, an M12A1 gas filter and an Ml Al air
purifier precleaner in a steel housing.
AIR PURIFIER CONTROL BOX - contains ON/OFF switch for operation of the VFPS.
M3 HEATERS - warm the air before it reaches the face pieces. A heater is connected
in-line to each M25A1 face piece. Each heater is individually temperature-adjusted and
swtiched (OFF/ON). Heaters must be turned on when operating the VFPS in outside
temperatures of less than 40°F.
