REPLACE RADIATOR AND SEAL (M548A1) -- Continued

m. Install top right access grille (WP 0383 00).

Make sure exhaust extension is securely fitted to muffler (WP 0207 00).
2.
Flushing radiator:
a.
Plug radiator fill opening.
b.
Direct water under pressure into outlet opening in lower tank. Allow water to circulate for 10 minutes.
3.
Check radiator. Replace radiator that has cracks, dents, or shows signs of leaks.
4.
Check mounts. Replace mounts that are cracked or worn.
5.
If replacing seals or gaskets, scrape and clean mounting surfaces with cleaning compound.
WARNING
Wear safety goggles while using compressed air. Don't take a chance on eye injury or blindness.
6.
Blow foreign material from outside of radiator core with 15 psi (103 kN/cm) compressed air.
7.
Check radiator cap. Replace cap that is cracked, worn, or shows signs of leaks. Pressure valve portion of cap should
open between 13 and 18 psi (90 and 124 kN/sq cm) pressure. Vacuum relief valve should open between 0 and 0.6 psi (0
and 4.1 kN/sq cm) below atmospheric pressure. Replace cap if valves do not open.
8.
Check radiator mounting inserts. Notify your supervisor to replace loose inserts.
