REPLACE ENGINE FUEL PUMP (M548A3) -- Continued

CLEANING
1.
Clean tapered male threads on engine fuel pump with cleaning compound.
2.
Apply sealing compound to threads on engine fuel pump. Do not apply sealing compound beyond end of threads.
INSTALLATION
1.
Position engine fuel pump (1) and new gasket (2) on engine with fuel pump drive coupling (3) over square end of fuel
pump drive shaft (4).
2.
Install three washers (5) and screws (6) to secure engine fuel pump (1) to engine.
3.
Torque screws (6) 156-204 in-lb (17.63-23.03 Nm).
4.
Connect outlet hose (7) and inlet hose (8) to engine fuel pump (1).
FOLLOW-THROUGH STEPS
1.
Lower center seat (see your -10).
2.
Install top access cover and grille (see your -10).
3.
Connect both battery negative leads (WP 0292 00).
