CASTINGS.
WARNING
Air pressure in excess of 30 psi (207 kpa) can injure personnel. Do not direct pressurized air at
yourself or others. Always wear goggles.
1)
Clean inner and outer surfaces of casting with cleaning compound (WP 0542 00, Item 9). Dry casting with
compressed air.
2)
Remove sludge and gum deposits with brush (WP 0542 00, Item 30).
3)
Blow out all tapped holes with compressed air.

BEARINGS. Bearings require special cleaning techniques. See TM 9-214 for cleaning and maintenance procedures
for bearings.

BATTERIES. See TM 9-6140-200-14 to service batteries.

OIL PASSAGES.
1)
Make sure oil passages are not clogged.
2)
Clean oil passages and break up any sludge or gum deposits.

Flush oil passages with cleaning compound (WP 0542 00, Item 9). Dry parts with compressed air.

OIL SEALS, ELECTRIC CABLES, AND FLEXIBLE HOSES.
CAUTION
Cleaning compound causes leather, rubber, and synthetic materials to become brittle. Do not
use cleaning compound to clean seals, cables, and flexible hoses.

Clean seals, cables, and flexible hoses with general purpose detergent (WP 0542 00, Item 16) and water. Dry with
wiping rag (WP 0542 00, Item 45).
