TRANSMISSION AND DRIVE CONTROL ASSEMBLIES The  transmission  is  mechanically  and  hydraulically  operated.    It  receives  power  from  the  engine  through  a  transfer assembly.  The transmission has four forward, two reverse, and one neutral setting.  Power is delivered to the left and right final drives through output shafts linked to the transmission by universal joints. Transmission mechanically linked drive control assemblies include the following:  Brakes, which provide internal mechanical braking for right and left transmission drive assemblies.  Used to stop or slow vehicle by depressing brake pedal in driver's compartment.  Gear shift selector, which selects speed for the transmission. 1-18
