TM 9-2350-267-10ENGINE AUTOMATIC FIRE EXTINGUISHING SYSTEM (AFES)COMPONENTS - ContinuedRemote Status IndicatorFire ExtinguisherREMOTE STATUS INDICATOR (RSI)The RSI is a red alarm light that warns personnel in the crew compartment of engineoverheat and fires.The red RSI ENGINE FIRE warning lamp and the red FIRE ALARM lamp on the en-gine T/A panel light at the same time.FIRE EXTINGUISHERSThe fire extinguishers consist of steel cylinders filled with HaIon and equipped with aquick-release valve assembly.AFES cylinders contain HaIon fire suppressant pressurized with dry nitrogen for useon hydrocarbon fuel fires only.The engine compartment has two fire extinguishers, One fire extinguisher interfaceswith the thermal detection system through the engine compartment T/A panel. It acti-vates automatically when the thermal deteotion system senses an engine fire. Thesecond fire extinguisher is dedicated to the AFES/MDS. It is activated by pulling thelanyard cable pull handle located on the outside of the vehicle near the driver’s hatch.4-11
