TM 9-2350-261-24P(a) The maintenance code entered in the third position tells you the lowest maintenance levelauthorized to remove, replace and use an item. The maintenance code entered in the thirdposition will indicate authorization to one of the following levels of maintenance:CodeApplication/ExplanationCCrew or operator maintenance done within unit maintenance or avia-tion unit maintenance.OUnit maintenance or aviation unit category can remove, replace anduse the item.FDirect support or aviation level can remove, replace and use the item.HGeneral support level can remove, replace and use the item.LSpecialized Repair Activity can remove, replace and use the item.DDepot level can remove, replace and use the item.(b) The maintenance code entered in the fourth position tells whether or not the item is to berepaired and identifies the lowest maintenance level with the capability to do complete repair(i.e., perform all authorized repair functions). (NOTE: Some limited repair may be done on theitem at a lower level of maintenance, if authorized by the Maintenance Allocation Chart (MAC)and SMR codes.) This position will contain one of the following maintenance codes:CodeApplication/ExplanationOUnit maintenance or aviation unit is the lowest level that can docomplete repair of the item.FDirect support or aviation is the lowest level that can do completerepair of the item.HGeneral support is the lowest level that can do complete repair ofthe item.LSpecialized Repair Activity (SRA) (designate the specialized repair ac-tivity) is the lowest level that can do complete repair of the item.DDepot is the lowest level that can do complete repair of the item.ZNonrepairable. No repair is authorized.BNo repair is authorized. (No parts or special tools are authorized forthe maintenance of a “B”-coded item.) However, the item may bereconditioned by adjusting, lubricating, etc., at the user level.(3) RecoverabilityCode. Recoverability codes are assigned to items to indicate the dispositionaction on unserviceable items. The recoverability code is entered in the fifth position of the SMR code asfollows:4
