The kit includes a heater, fuel pump,control box, ducts, and valves. Your carrier could be equipped with one of three cab vehicle compartment heater kits. Kit onetakes in outside air through a duct in the power plant compartment, has a tubular heat manifold which crosses the width of thecab below the windshield, and provides a duct that supplies heated air to the cargo compartment. Kit two takes in cab airthrough a duct behind the driver’s seat and has two defroster ducts. a separate cab heat distributor and regulator valve, and aseparate duct to heat the driver’s footwell. Kit three is identical to kit two except that there three is no regulator valve, and twofans with individual ON-OFF switches circulate cab air to the defroster ducts. It is located where the winch used to be. The front access cover should besecured properly always to avoid excess water from damaging the heater and possibly getting into the crew compartment. Thevehicle compartment heater takes in fresh air through ducts under the instrument panel.CARGO AREA (PRIMARY) VEHICLE COMPARTMENT HEATER (M548A1)Required to provide heat for personnel seated in the cargo compartment in cold weather. (Material handling kit providespersonnel seats). The kit includes a heater, fuel pump, control box, fuel line, wiring harness, heat diffuser, and an exhaust pipewith guards to prevent injury to personnel or damage to cargo compartment cover. The kit includes a machinegun mount M66, brackets, cartridge case deflector, and four supports. Rear supports have brackets for stowing the machinegun tripod M3. When issued for use only with the 7.62 mm machine gun M60, deflector and tripod brackets may be omitted.When this kit is installed, front carrier lifting eyes are removed and stowed under the cargo compartment floor plates.
