2-19. TROUBLESHOOTING CHART.
a. ENGINE.
The engine is an internal-combustion, liquid-cooled, diesel engine with an exhaust-driven turbocharger. The
engine is the main component of the vehicle drain train and has many components and associated wiring
harnesses. The relationship of the engine and these components is shown in the pictorial diagram below. The
engine is started by turning the MASTER switch ON. This supplies 24 vdc from the batteries to the MASTER
relay. When the START button is pushed, the voltage is routed to the starter which cranks and starts the engine.
Once started, the engine can develop up to 440 horsepower at 2300 rpm and deliver this power to the transfer
assembly. The transfer assembly will then send this power to the transmission.
